Protection where burial isn't possible

Articulated pipes are cast iron shells that protect submarine telecom cables, umbilicals and power cables from mechanical damage and dragging vessel anchors. They are usually installed in tidal zones and hard seabed areas where the cable can't be buried and would otherwise be exposed.

Shore end protection matters. With articulated pipe in place, the risk of mechanical damage is greatly reduced.

Supply and installation

Metco Marine supplies articulated pipes made specifically for submarine cable protection. We have supplied more than 10,000 metres and continue to take new orders.

We keep limited stock to cover urgent needs. Large orders should be placed well ahead to make sure of delivery. If needed, we also install the pipes using experienced divers.
