Submarine Cable Burial

Submarine cable burial is one of the key elements of protecting subsea cables. Specially designed cable burial equipment is operated utilizing high water jetting system making a trench to the required depth and bury the cable under the seabed. METCO MARINE burial tools are considered one of the most effective tools used for submarine cable burial operations. Thousands of Kilometers have been successfully trenched providing comfort and protection to client’s submarine cable network.
METCO MARINE Burial/Trenching spread is built up by a self-propelled trenching support unit with additional equipment (Crane/winch) for handling of the trencher and necessary diving gear and tools. The trenching principle is a seabed fluidization method and the trencher will keep the trench open long enough to allow the cable to sink down to the bottom of the trench by its own gravity and by a roller connected at the end of the trenching sword.
The Burial/Trenching system comprises of a surface vessel (Pontoon) with 440 HP engines and pumps and a subsea unit (trencher). The trencher is connected to the surface vessel with a 6” water hose and a cable for the logging sensors and camera. The surface vessel is the “platform” that feeds the trencher with sufficient water supplies to the jetting swords and it is also the platform for navigation and logging burial data.
